Glossary of Telegram Gift Terms
This glossary defines the core terms used to describe Telegram NFT gifts — gift, collection, model, backdrop, symbol, rarity, upgrade, mint, crafting, TON, and floor price. Each upgraded Telegram gift is an NFT on the TON blockchain built from three layers, and the 7805 models in this wiki are organized using the concepts below.
- Gift
- A present bought with Telegram Stars and sent to another user. Once upgraded, a gift becomes a unique collectible NFT whose look is defined by its model, backdrop and symbol.
- Telegram Stars
- Telegram's in-app currency. Gifts are bought with Stars, upgrades are paid in Stars, and the Gift Marketplace inside Telegram prices collectibles in Stars.
- Collection
- A themed group of gifts sharing a common concept — for example, Plush Pepes, Eternal Roses, or Desk Calendars. Each collection contains multiple model variants.
- Model
- A visual variant within a collection. Each model has a unique design, name, and rarity percentage. For example, 'Midas Pepe' is a model in the Plush Pepes collection. Crafted models have a crafting tier instead of a percentage.
- Backdrop
- The background color or pattern behind the central object in a gift. Examples: Emerald (green), Satin Gold, Midnight Blue.
- Symbol
- A small repeating icon pattern overlaid on the backdrop. Examples: Lovebirds, Dice, Lightning.
- Rarity
- A percentage indicating how often a model appears when a gift from its collection is upgraded (minted). Lower percentage = rarer. A 0.1% model is extremely rare, while 5% is common. Crafted models have a tier instead of a percentage.
- Upgrade
- Turning a regular gift into a collectible for an extra Stars fee. The upgraded gift is minted as an NFT with a random model, backdrop and symbol and can then be resold or transferred. Some released gifts cannot be upgraded yet.
- Mint
- Creating a collectible NFT from a gift. It happens when the gift is upgraded: at that moment a random combination of model, backdrop and symbol is generated. A gift that has not been upgraded has none of them.
- Crafting
- A Telegram mechanic launched in February 2026: up to four collectible gifts are combined into a new gift of a higher tier — Uncommon, Rare, Epic or Legendary. Crafted models have no mint rarity, and a failed craft burns the gifts used.
- TON
- The Open Network — a blockchain originally designed by the Telegram team and developed since 2020 by the TON Foundation and community. Collectible Telegram gifts are NFTs on TON, and marketplace prices outside the app are in TON.
- NFT
- Non-Fungible Token — a unique digital asset on a blockchain. Each upgraded Telegram gift is an NFT, meaning it has a verifiable owner and can be traded.
- Gift Marketplace
- The official marketplace inside Telegram where collectible gifts are bought and sold for Stars. Outside the app, collectibles trade for TON on marketplaces such as Portals, MRKT, Tonnel, Getgems and Fragment.
- Fragment
- A Telegram-affiliated platform (fragment.com) for buying and selling usernames, anonymous numbers and collectible gifts for TON.
- Floor Price
- The lowest price at which a gift from a specific model is currently listed for sale on a marketplace.
- Supply
- How many copies of a gift Telegram released. A limited gift is sold out once its supply runs out.
- Tag
- A thematic label assigned to models for categorization and search. Examples: halloween, skull, gold, pepe-the-frog. Models can have multiple tags.
